Kids in Therapy: A Different Perspective

The mental health system is set up on a medical model, and assumes that the patient’s presenting problem lies within the individual. This model works well for adults, but not so much for kids. Because children are products of their environment, and are so reactive to that environment, very often the “problems” the children present with are really symptom of something outside of them.
