Jude Currier, LICSW
Jude is a Masters Level clinician who has been in the field of mental health for over 25 years. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.
Born and raised in New England, Jude has worked in a wide variety of settings throughout his career, including child protective services, substance abuse treatment, therapeutic foster care, emergency room psychiatric treatment, medical social work, medical interpreting, community mental health and managed care. In private practice since 2004, Jude has served the community through his work on behalf of children through individual and family therapy. He also enjoys a close connection to the Latino community as one of the only Spanish speaking clinicians in the state.
Your work with Jude will focus on what he refers to as “the do.” Therapy is about change, and change is about doing something different, whether in the form of behavior or perspective. Jude will help you examine what has not been working, identify where you may be “locked” and work towards a path of movement out of your struggle.
When working with children Jude prefers to avoid the individual pathology model so prevalent in child mental health settings. Instead he favors a systemic approach working closely with parents and caretakers. Please see our section on Parent Coaching for a more detailed description of Jude’s approach.
