We’ve all heard about young adults living off their parents, occupying their basement
not working and sleeping all day. We generally refer to these folks as Failure to Launch Kids. The phenomenon is not new, but it seems to be happening more and more, and is starting to be pathologized by the mental health system into a diagnostic category. Chances are this is more of a family systems issue than it is a mental health issue, with parents having a lot of influence both in the cause and the cure.
